Servant Heart Award
Grounded in an occurrence captured for us in the Holy Gospel of St. John. Each year on Thursday of Holy Week, we hear the story and witness the reenactment of the Washing of the Feet. This ceremony provides a powerful image. Equally powerful are the words of Jesus as he washes the feet of his disciples: "You call me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. If then, your Lord and Teacher have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you." At the core of this beautiful Gospel story are love, humility and service. So too are these the core of the Servant Heart Award. Edgewood High School staff and administration chooses the recipient of this award.
