Congratulations to all students whose work was part of the fine arts festival art show. The judges Natalie Koblenski, The Wayfarer staff, Katie Sturm, Theresa West-Lentz, and Edgewood College student Amber Schwartz had a difficult time judging because the selection of art works was so wonderful. We invite you to take a look at the list of winners and their artworks.
The Fine Arts Festival committee would like to thank all those who contributed to this year's successful event! It would not be possible without the dedication of many faculty, staff, parents/guardians, students, and artists. Please take a moment to review the list of contributors and the program for the event.
Thanks to all the students who submitted poetry, scripts, or short stories in this year’s competition. We appreciate your hard work and dedication. Congratulations to all of the award winners! Edgewood High School recently learned that the 2016 edition of The Wayfarer, Edgewood's student literary and art magazine, received a “Superior Award” from the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). The NCTE annually reviews student literary magazines for quality, variety, editing and proofreading, and design/artistic aspects. The Wayfarer is one of only two Wisconsin high school literary magazines to receive this honor. In the magazine’s 31-year history, NCTE has consistently ranked it “Superior.” The letter of recognition to the English Department states, “It is a very special honor for your school’s literary magazine to be cited. The National Council of Teachers of English congratulates you and the students who produced this exemplary literary magazine.”
The mission of the NCTE Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literary Magazines is to encourage all schools to develop magazines which print excellent student writing and which show evidence of school-wide participation in the production of the magazine.
The 2015-2016 staff of The Wayfarer included: Zachary Palmer, editor; Evelyn Stein, managing editor; Cameron Craig, creative director; Gloria Bushong, Nicole Cook, Julia Flynn, Kaitlyn Goss-Peirce, Eileen Healy, Mary Lazar, Tia Parisi, Meghan Pfau, Gwendolyn Pyeatt, Claire Stein, and Thomas Tenzin, reviewers and editorial/design staff; and Ran, cover artist.
