EDGEWOOD REQUIRES:
- 4 years of English and Religion,
- 3 years of Math, Science and Social Studies,
- 2 ½ years of Physical Education,
- 1 year of Computer Literacy and Fine Arts,
- and 1 semester of Public Speaking
NON-ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:
In addition to rigorous academic requirements, there are two non-academic requirements that are intrinsic to receiving the full educational experience at EHS:
- All students volunteer 100
hours of community service. Freshmen complete about 10 hours and sophomores, juniors and seniors about 30
hours each year. The 100 hours are to be completed by the end of the third quarter
of senior year.
- Every EHS student participates in an annual retreat.
- (Transfer Students: Special arrangements are made to help you meet requirements.)
ELECTIVES:
7.5 credits of electives (just under 2 per semester) are also required. One elective credit must be in Fine Arts (Art, Music, Theatre/Communication) and the others may be in any of the subjects previously listed or in Aviation, Business & Computers,
Foreign Languages (see below), Learning Resource Center or Yearbook.
- Because 95% or more of Edgewood students attend college, students are strongly encouraged to take 2-3 years of foreign language -- a common college requirement -- and most students do so.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:
From STAR (Sisters Taking Active Roles) to Laughing Stock
(Improv Comedy) and Olympiad (Science) to
Ultimate (Frisbee), 95% or more of EHS students
participate in one or more sports or activities!
