COURSES: Course Descriptions
Vocal: Sing a Joyful Song
- Edgewood Chorus (grades 9-10) and
Concert Choir (grades 11-12) are open to any interested student. Styles from medieval to contemporary are sung at on-campus concerts.
- Crusader Singers Show Choir accepts members annually by audition. The ensemble incorporates dance and movement and performs both at EHS and at venues off campus.
- Other singing groups are organized throughout the year for solo and ensemble performances, liturgies, and just for fun.
- History of American Popular Music is a non-performance semester course on the genres and people in American Popular Music.

Instrumental: Play Music that Matters
- Concert and Symphonic bands perform in concerts and at athletic events. In the past, the ensemble has toured New York City and Toronto.
- Orchestra welcomes violin, viola, cello and string bass musicians and performs at school and in the community. Wind players join them occasionally to perform full orchestral works.
- Jazz Ensemble is an auditioned group for members of the Concert and Symphonic bands who want to exceed the standard repertoire of those ensembles.
- Piano: Beginning, 2nd Year, Intermediate & Advanced are taught on state-of-the-art Yamaha keyboards. Students of all ability levels are welcome!
- Handbell Choir I and II play Schulmerich bells at concerts on campus and in the community. Handbell students have performed in New York City.

Private Lessons: As part of the EHS Music Curriculum, each student is scheduled into a private lesson once a cycle. Lesson assignments are based on the needs of the student and vary through the year.

The EHS Music Boosters has had great success with its annual Trivia Night, raising $9,000 last year for Music programs!

PHILOSOPHY
The Music Department of Edgewood High School exists to prepare students to understand, value and enjoy music throughout their lives. Students will learn to appreciate the unique, God-given talents each person possesses and the value of sharing those talents with others.
