Edgewood in the Community 2021

Grounded in the values of Truth, Compassion, Justice, Community and Partnership, service has been the cornerstone of an Edgewood High School education for 140 years. Our students’ commitment to working in our community did not stop during the pandemic. Edgewood students cumulatively served more than 2,000 hours last year.

Edgewood in the Community is our most important event of the year, with our entire student body, faculty, staff, alumni and parents coming together to support our community. The world we live in has changed greatly over the past year, making this event necessary now more than ever.

On the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 15, students, faculty and staff, and parent volunteers gathered for a prayer service out on the EHS football field, then boarded 25 buses and vans that carried them to area sites that benefit from this volunteer effort, which is organized by the EHS Campus Ministry team. Many organizations have come to rely on their annual visit from the Edgewood Crusader volunteers and we also have several new organizations each year. EHS volunteers serve meals, harvest pantry vegetables, tutor children, clean community centers, and spend time with seniors and more at sites all around Madison and the surrounding area including Cross Plains, Edgerton, Fitchburg, Monona, Stoughton, Sun Prairie and Verona. This effort represents more than 3,000 hours of volunteer work for these area organizations (see list below). Watch for those maroon and gold t-shirts throughout the Madison area!
