Application Process

2025-26 School Year Application Process

Application procedures vary for incoming freshmen and transfer applicants.

The preferred time frame of Edgewood’s admissions process is given below, however, we will continue to accept applications throughout the year. If you have any questions, please email the admissions office or call (608) 257-1023 x131.

Step 1 - Application

Application Available: Sunday, October 20, 2024.  APPLY NOW!

The following information is required as part of the online application:

 Deadline for First Consideration: Sunday, December 15, 2024

  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Applications submitted after the initial deadline will be considered considered on a rolling basis, once a month.
  • Applicants on the deferred and waiting lists will be reconsidered once a month.

*Star 360 Assessment
Edgewood uses results from the Star 360 Assessment as a supplement to the admission application. Several area middle schools offer this standardized test in the fall of 8th grade. Students who take Star 360 through their own school may submit a copy of their scores to EHS Admissions when applying. For students that do not test through their school, Edgewood administers the Star 360 Assessment by appointment. Contact Admissions to sign up for a test date.

Step 2 - Decision Notification

Decision Notifications: January 9, 2025

Notifications will be sent to the family email on record. Students will be assigned one of the following statuses: Accepted, Deferred, Waitlist, or Denied.

Accepted students will move on to step 3 of the Admissions process.

Step 3 - Course Selection

Appointments Scheduled: January 21-31, 2025

Appointment may be held in person or virtually.

Following admission to Edgewood High School, parents and students meet with a Student Services counselor to select courses for the following school year. A registration deposit will also be due at this time.

Math & Spanish Proficiency Testing
Admitted students who have taken a high school level math (Algebra/Geometry) or Spanish class at a school other than EHS will complete an assessment to demonstrate proficiency. The results will then be used to place the student in an appropriate level class. 

Dates of Assessments: 

Tuesday, April 29,  3:30 - Math

Tuesday, May 6, 3:30 - Spanish

Edgewood does a comprehensive review of all completed applications submitted by the deadline. This application is free of charge and should take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. Edgewood does not maintain a waitlist prior to application submission.

Transfer Student Application Process

Edgewood will consider qualified transfer applicants within the limits of our enrollment and space availability. Mid-semester transfers are not typically permitted; enrolled transfers must begin school at the start of the first semester. Edgewood only considers transfers for the second semester on a very limited basis and as space allows. Please note that Edgewood’s semesters run on a different timeline than area public schools:

  • 1st Semester: Mid-August (approx. Aug.15) - December
  • 2nd Semester: Early January - May

Before completing the Transfer Application, please contact the Admissions Director at admissions@edgewoodhs.org or (608) 257-1023 x131 to discuss your student’s interest in transferring to Edgewood and to get more information regarding the transfer process.

 

Step 1 - Application

Transfer Application Period: Saturday, February 1, 2025

The following information is required as part of the online application:

  • High school grades, including the latest progress report/quarter grades
  • Discipline and attendance records
  • A complete list of classes your student is registered for the entire school year
  • Student Interview (approx. 15 minutes; by appointment only)

 Deadline for first consideration: Friday, February 28, 2025

  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Applications submitted after the deadline will be considered for the waitlist. Students will only be admitted if space allows. 

 

Step 2 - Decision Notification

Decision Notifications: Mid-March Notifications will be sent to the family email on record. Students will assigned one of three statuses: Accepted, Deferred to Waitlist, or Denied. Accepted students will move on to step 3 of the Admissions process.

 

Step 3 - Course Selection, Enrollment Acceptance Form & Deposit

Following admission to Edgewood High School, parents and students meet with the registrar or a Student Services counselor to select courses for the following school year. A registration deposit will also be due at this time.
