Faith
Edgewood provides opportunities for all students to grow in faith. We begin each day with prayer and celebrate weekly community mass in our Chapel for any students and community members who wish to attend. Students of all faith backgrounds participate in our All School liturgies, and Catholic students can assist as acolytes, altar servers, and eucharistic ministers at Mass.
Teaching Approach
Edgewood has a religiously diverse student body, so courses reach out to all students. We teach Catholic tradition, examine other faith traditions, and discuss commonalities and differences. Religious studies courses are academic in nature and graded. All students are capable of success in religious studies courses, regardless of religious or nonreligious background.
For a list of all religious studies course offerings, please see the Curriculum Guide.
The Center for Mission & Ministry
The Center of Mission and Ministry (COMM) is about belonging, togetherness, connection, faith and community. It is designed to bring students together in an environment that is welcoming, fun, stimulating, and open to all. It's about creating a space where every student feels valued and connected. When students feel part of a supportive community, they are more motivated, engaged, and successful both academically and personally.
Campus Ministry
Campus Ministry is the heart of Edgewood's faith life. It helps students grow spiritually through prayer, liturgies, retreats, service opportunities, and community-building events. By offering meaningful ways to encounter God and serve others, Campus Ministry supports students in developing their faith, deepening their values, and living out the school’s mission both on and off campus.
Dominican House System
The goal of the EHS House System is to give each student on campus a place where they are embraced by their fellow House members while building a deeper relationship with their fellow students and to provide opportunities for growth, leadership and engagement. The House system also provides activities to maximize students' unique spiritual, physical, emotional, and professional potential, while further enhancing the mission of EHS.
