Campus Ministry

Here at Edgewood, we strive to live by the mottos of our founders, the Dominican Order of Preachers, in every way, every day. These mottos, Veritas (Truth), Laudare, Benedicere, Praedicare (to praise, to bless, to preach), and contemplare et contemplata aliis tradere (to contemplate and hand on to others the fruits of contemplation), encapsulate what it means to be an EHS Crusader. Campus Ministry’s goal is to help each and every member of our community find their personal and spiritual truths so they can truly thrive as more than a student, but as a whole being, created in the image, likeness, and goodness of God.

Campus Ministry, based in the school’s community hub, the COMM (Center of Mission and Ministry), creates opportunities centered on our central mission: nurturing the spiritual and mental well-being of all students and community members. As an Edgewood alum and Campus Minister, I find great joy in guiding students and their families in discovering and growing in faith. Throughout the year, we provide liturgies, Reconciliation, student-led prayer, service, retreats, and more. Above the COMM entrance, are St. Catherine of Siena’s words reminding us: “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.” We aim to empower students to discover their truths, deepen their understanding, and share their gifts to make a meaningful impact in our community and beyond.

Those of us who seek to be followers of Jesus using the path of St. Dominic must ultimately become men and women who live our lives focused on others while trusting that God will provide for our every need. We are men and women called to be sacraments of God’s unconditional love and salvation that makes us one in the midst of our diversity.Sr. Jamie Phelps, Order of Preachers
