MLK Day Breakfast at EHS

On Sunday, Jan. 20,  the 35th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Recognition Breakfast, hosted by the Urban League of Greater Madison, was held at Edgewood High School. The breakfast celebrates students’ academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, and service to their community.
The highlight of the breakfast is the presentation of Outstanding Young Person Awards to nearly 200 middle and high school students of color in Dane County for their academic achievement, extracurricular involvement and service to the community. Martin Luther King Scholarships are presented to exceptional high school seniors.

“The Urban League of Greater Madison has a partnership with Edgewood High School that has lasted for over three decades," says Ruben Anthony, Jr, CEO of the Urban League of Greater Madison, organizer of the event. "We would not be able to host this special event and host over 1,000 community members each year, without this partnership. The event has become a vital part of the Dr. Martin Luther King annual celebration and recognizes the achievement of mostly minority students from over 48 schools in Dane County. Thanks for the partnership!”
