Donateto Our School
Thousands of benefactors and volunteers have joined with Edgewood High School of the Sacred Heart to ensure the Sinsinawa Dominican sisters' mission continues: preparing students for a lifetime of learning, service, and personal responsibility. With your support, EHS sees outstanding student outcomes resulting from an excellent academic education, faith development and spiritual awareness, and strong co-curricular experiences that foster personal growth!
Paying it Forward
Edgewood does not receive financial support from the government or from the Diocese of Madison. As an independent Catholic high school sponsored by the Sinsinawa Dominicans, our ability to meet the changing needs of our student body rests entirely on a combination of tuition, fees, and charitable support. Each year, our donors are primarily parents and grandparents of current students, alumni, and parents of alumni who appreciate the value of an Edgewood education and are “paying forward” the generosity of those who supported Edgewood while they or their children attended. Members of the Edgewood Board of Trustees, area businesses, foundations and friends also provide support.
Edgewood continues its long-standing commitment to remain affordable for families. Edgewood has never charged tuition equal to the cost the school incurs to educate a student. Also, approximately 40 percent of EHS families receive need-based tuition assistance in the form of grants. This important financial aid is essential to ensure as many students who would like to attend can and that we can offer the broad range of high-quality courses and activities that are an Edgewood hallmark. To continue providing this aid, Edgewood must raise about $1.5 million annually from donors and special events.
Thank You For Your Generosity
Your generosity is the pillar supporting the Edgewood experience for this and future generations. Donors to Edgewood have given cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, bequests, or made other long-term estate plans. Our average gift is $125, with most gifts in the $25-$250 range.
Transform your desire to help students into an exceptional, faith-filled educational experience. There are so many ways to leave a gift for the students at Edgewood. We are forever grateful for your generosity!
The Annual Fund helps to provide educational resources and programs; attract and retain exceptional teachers; maintain facilities; regularly update technology; and provide nearly $750,000 in yearly need-based financial assistance to families with low to moderate incomes. It is the largest of the school’s giving categories and most Annual Fund gifts are unrestricted, meaning the school can use the funds to meet its most pressing priorities and budgeted expenses.
Edgewood’s fiscal year runs July 1 to June 30 and we accept Annual Fund general appeals three times a year, with an additional opportunity to make an end-of-year tax-deductible gift. Crusader Connection newsletters also contain a pledge envelope. We allow multiple appeals to accommodate anyone, no matter when and how they choose to give—and gifts are welcome at any time!
Fall Appeal in September and October is the initial annual ask for gifts; we do not solicit people who respond for another Annual Fund gift for the remainder of the year. The Year-End Appeal in November and December is an opportunity to give a tax-deductible gift before year's end. We hold the Phone-a-thon in January and February because some of our EHS friends prefer to receive a call to contribute. In May and June, Spring Appeal is an opportunity to give before the end of the June 30 EHS fiscal year.

Parents are critical to our fundraising success, and our goal is 100 percent participation, regardless of the size of the gift. We encourage parents to make EHS their highest philanthropic priority while their children are students at Edgewood. Gifts to the Parent Pledge Program directly benefit students during the years they are enrolled. An additional benefit is that rather than paying the “real” tuition cost, parents may take a tax-deductible, charitable contribution for Annual Fund gifts.
We make an initial ask from parents in the fall. While we ask most families to consider a gift of $375, we hope all families participate at a level within their budget. Some parents with greater resources choose to “fill the gap” with a gift of $1,500 to the Parent Pledge Program. Gifts of this size make up the entire difference between tuition charged and the actual cost of providing a quality education.
We do not contact families who make a Parent Pledge for further Annual Fund contributions for the balance of the school year. We may, however, ask you to support EHS Athletics or Fine Arts, and you receive an invitation to EHS fundraising events.

Four-Front is a select group of parents with students currently enrolled at Edgewood. They are committed leaders who share with EHS a common vision of intellectual preparedness, service to society, and reciprocal giving, and have the financial means to lend significant support.
Members of the Four-Front program make an unrestricted pledge to the Annual Fund of $5,000-$10,000 for each of the four years their son or daughter attends Edgewood. Through this commitment, Four-Front members bridge the "financial gap" (the cost of tuition vs. the actual EHS cost to educate per student) not only for their son or daughter, but also for others within the Edgewood High School community.
If you are interested in contributing as a Four-Font parent, please e-mail President Michael Elliott, or call 608-257-1023, ext. 103.
Many employers match their employees’ charitable giving, fully or in part, providing an opportunity to double your contribution. Find out if your company matches gifts to your favorite non-profit organizations…like Edgewood High School!
Always check with your employer, even if you don't see their name on the list, since small companies in particular may give but not appear in the database. Go to your company's business or human resources office to get a form to send with your personal gift.
We also thank these companies that match employee gifts to Edgewood.
Many Edgewood alumni, parents, and friends choose to give gifts to EHS in memory of a loved one or friend. We welcome gifts in any amount. Donations may include those to honor a recent death or annual remembrances of a loved one's life.
We invite those who give a Memorial Gift to an EHS Memorial Prayer Service, where all present have the opportunity to light a candle in memory of the friend or loved one who has died. We welcome visitors at these services, which we hold five times a year. Visit our Calendar page for more information about memorial gifts.
